Ways in Preventing Spiritual Burnout from Christopher Reburn

I remember it very well. It was right after the summer of 2008 and I was getting really tired. At that time, I was offering readings both via my website and on eBay. So much work was piling in and my schedule was getting entirely out of control, and I didnt know what to do. I didnt want to change anything because my dedicated followers seemed happy and I didnt really want to change that course.

However, I knew I had to do something. I was getting way too tired, beyond the point of exhaustion, yet still carrying a smile on my face and doing the workload of 20 people. I never once complained, but I knew something had to change. I was still doing great work with my readings, healings, courses and some case work, but I was becoming alienated with the outside world.

Friends used to call to ask if I wanted to go to a movie or concert or just a simple bite to eat, but each time I'd always tell them no, that I was too busy with work and needed to devote all of my time to my work. I suppose I am a workaholic. Duty first, second second.

I decided that I needed to make some serious changes before things got worse. I was still being positive and was not being negative, but I felt that my life was taking me over and the schedule began dictating everything I would ever do. The pressure was on, and boy did I feel it. It was a horrible feeling and I knew that time had come and went when I should have made some changes, so the time was then upon me to make some changes.

I did just that -- and more!

I decided that I would no longer be on the phone late at night into the early morning hours as I'd done for years, in providing readings, healings, spiritual counseling, my courses and so on at various parts of the world. I decided that I would have a more limited evening schedule, perhaps up to 7pm or 8pm and that would be it. No more talking on the phone all over the world to the wee hours of the morning.

I also decided that eBay was becoming too much extra work. While I loved offering readings on eBay, I decided that it was time to go in a new direction. Therefore, I no longer offered readings for sale on eBay, and focused all of my time and energy on my own website. This was a blessing in disguise for me. I was really scared to make this decision, though all along Dannii was there rooting me on, saying 'you fear the greatest changes, but just wait and you'll see that this is a positive thing'. He sure was right and it was really beneficial that I had his support in this change as I didnt want to go it alone.

Then I decided I would no longer work holidays or weekends. What? Weekends off? That was totally foreign to me, as I'd become used to working weekends, holidays, my birthday, etc. It was just too out of control and this change needed to be addressed and put into motion, and so it was.

I was close to being spiritually burnt out, so I knew I had to make some changes, and I did. Now nearly five years after these changes, I feel better, happier and healthier. My sleep has become a little better, though still at times challenging. I'm spending more time with friends, and accepting more invitations for outtings, opposed to immediately rejecting them as I did in previous times.

I'm sharing more of my personal experience to help you so that you do not get spiritually burnt out. It's a horrible feeling that can be prevented if you just make some changes in your life and your schedule.

Looking back (because sometimes it is healthy to do so) I should have made these change years before I did, but I know that most everything happens when it should.

Gay Marriage in America: Love Always Wins!

Dear Spiritual Friend,

I’m feeling rather weightless today in the wake of the Supreme Court rulings on gay marriage. I’ve been on a cloud since the victorious and monumental news was announced earlier today that DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act that only recognizes marriage between a man and a woman) has been defeated and Prop 8 (which banned gays and lesbians in California from getting married) has been overturned! I have so many wonderful gay and lesbian friends in California who’ve wanted to get married for years, and now they will have that moment.

I was brought to tears when I read some of the stories and letters that many of you have written to me in regards to being with your soulmate in a same-sex relationship and only wanting the same rights that heterosexual people have. After today’s triumphant rulings by the US Supreme Court, it looks like we are heading in a great direction and many of these things will be realized and most importantly – recognized.

I love Dannii with all my heart and soul. Along with Shiner, Dannii is the inspiration for everything I do. We do plan to get married on a future date of our choosing, and for our relationship to be recognized here in America (as gay marriage is already recognized in many other countries) just makes my heart skip a beat. Loving Dannii with all my heart as I do, I can fully understand why so many of my gay and lesbian friends want to honor that love by getting married.

While there is still a lot of work that lies ahead for gay marriage in all 50 states, I’m happy to know that President Obama stands behind these positive changes and will do all that he can to ensure love continues to prevail with equality for all.

It's Been Awhile...

Dear Spiritual Friend,

I know it’s been forever since I’ve updated my blog. I’ve been so busy with my readings schedule and my courses that I haven’t had a lot of extra time to focus on other areas. I would much prefer to do occasional blog updates, opposed to weekly updates, as that will ensure that each time I do update my blog, it will be more of a quality update, opposed to just random ramblings.

I have not made any progress with my book that I’ve been talking about for the last 8 years. I keep trying to find time and proper focus to devote to the project, but each time I try, I come up empty. So my general feelings about this is that I’ve got more living and experiencing to do, or something else to learn or accomplish before I’m really ready to start writing the book again. Some of you had requested that I write more of an autobiography, though being only in my early-30’s I still feel that I have so much yet to do before I’m ready to focus on such a project as an autobiography. The other downside of writing and publishing a book is the considerable amount of time that I would have to be away from home in doing a book tour and helping to promote the project. A publisher that I’ve been in contact with said I’d have to block out 6-8 weeks (or possibly more) to go on tour to various book stores for book signings, lectures, as well as numerous interviews. I’m a homebody, and I don’t like being away from home for too awfully long, especially when I’m unable to take Shiner with me. This is the main reason I do not do lengthy lecture tours anymore. It’s just too difficult. I enjoy traveling, but detest flying and the grueling schedule of being on tour.

I’ve been much more involved with my courses in the last couple of years. They have really taken off well, and have received such high praise from so many of my students. It’s amazing to teach others what I’ve learned and then to watch them soar to all new heights when they spread their wings. It makes me very proud to think that people look at me as a teacher and guide. While I do enjoy doing readings, I sure love doing my courses and I have found that the ‘teacher’ theme within me is emerging more and more as I continue to mature and gain more spiritual direction and guidance from my own Guides & Angels. As a child and young adult, I worshipped my teachers and admired them for their great ability of standing in front of a class and sharing their knowledge and wisdom with the rest of us. I always wanted to be a teacher when I grew up and it’s wonderful that I have that platform now to take part in. I have so much passion when it comes to teaching others and sharing my knowledge and insights that I’ve learned over my lifetime.

So many of you have asked what has happened to Conversations with Christopher, and why there have only been about 20 shows or so over the last year. The plain and honest truth is that I’ve been so busy with readings and courses that I’ve had to use the process of elimination and restrict certain things to ensure that I’m getting enough rest and that there is enough time to get everything done that needs to be done. I’m really happy to say that the show is returning for a full summer season of 9 shows between June and August – the most shows I’ve done consecutively in well over a year. I’m also looking at fall/autumn and winter show dates this far in advance to ensure that the dates and times are blocked out so that I can still maintain my schedule, but still provide quality and routine weekly shows that so many of you have come to expect. I was so excited to introduce two brand new courses for 2013, including my 3 Month Healing Course and my 3 Month Angels & Spirit Guides Course. I’ve already received some excellent feedback from current students enrolled in the new courses which gives me such confidence and the fuel I need to continue in teaching them. I put a considerable amount of time and energy into my courses, and the many of you who have taken part in them can surely attest to that. I have just put the finishing touches on yet another new course; this one is a 3 Month Animal Communication Course which will be available later this year. Stay tuned for more information on that! So much tragedy is happening before our eyes. From the recent Boston bombings, to the horrific tornadoes in Oklahoma. People have asked me how it’s possible for such things to happen within this earthly plane when there are supposed to be Angels working to help keep us protected and away from danger. It’s a very difficult question to answer for a number of reasons, as there are always Angels in place, in and around these areas before, during and after these sad events that have changed so many lives forevermore. Angels are always doing their job, but unfortunately some of these world events are both unforeseeable and unpreventable, and when the Angels feel that a large number of people will perish during these moments in time, they begin assisting and aiding those innocent souls in starting the crossing over and transitional process. As with 9/11, the people in the Twin Towers as well as those in the planes were already Home on The Other Side long before the devastation that would change the world forever occurred. Angels never give up on saving those beautiful, innocent people until it’s deemed that they must now focus on helping them go Home to God.

I want to thank all of you who continue to send me love, friendship, strength and prayers. I cannot begin to express my sincere thanks and gratitude for all the love and support that so many of you show me. The journey is no fun without having a few cheerleaders rooting you on, and so many of you make it so exciting and worthwhile and my appreciation for you and my gratitude for you is never-ending.

Love Ever After ~ My Sacred Journey with Dannii

August 2012 is a very special month for me in one very specific regard, it was five years ago this month that someone wandered into my life and showered me with love, acceptance, security, laughter, strength and so much more. That kindred soul remains by my side, walking and experiencing this life's journey with me every step of the way.

The person I'm speaking of is my one and only soulmate, my wonderful Dannii, who I love with every beat of my heart.

I've always kept details of my personal and private life relatively quiet for years, because I value my personal and private time. It's very sacred to me. Being a professional spiritual advisor and teacher in the public eye, there is very little privacy and once you have something so sacred and wonderful, you want to hold on to it and enjoy it for awhile, before the rest of the world finds out.

I finally feel that the time has come to share my happiness with so many of you, all of whom have always sent me well wishes, love, strength, healing and are genuinely interested in me beyond the scope of a reading. So many of you out there are constantly rooting me on and are my own personal cheering squad, who are always sending me positive energies and blessings for happiness and prosperity.

I have now reached a very special part of my life where I have never been happier and more secure with who I am and who I will always be. Dannii has played such a large role in my life these past five years, and he has helped me to see things from many different angles and is always involved in everything I do, I would not have it any other way.

On our very first Christmas together, we received the sad news that my Grandfather passed away. Had Dannii not been with me on this particular day, I would have spent it alone and in a terrible emotional state of sadness and grief. He immediately rose to the occasion and showed me his own strength and courage while juggling my own emotions and trying to keep me strong as well. I have never before seen a man with any greater strength than my Dannii. Despite the sadness of the day, he made sure we had a nice Christmas with a great dinner and intimate conversations and times together speaking of my Grandfather and precious memories of the past. I knew then that I would be in good hands with Dannii, and my Guides & Angels were in immediate agreement from the very beginning. I love him so much that I'd easily give my own life for his.

I'll never forget the first time Shiner saw Dannii. Shiner is typically very reserved and fully on guard until he really knows a person, but he was the exact opposite with Dannii. The first time they met, Shiner ran up to him to give him quite a few kisses and tail wags, almost as if to say 'Thank God you're finally here!!'.

Dannii has helped me to learn more about my spirituality and to see many things from different perspectives that I might not have ever fully understood or known, but with his gentle help and reminders, he's helped me put together quite a few spiritual projects and goals for the present and future. I like to call him 'The Brains Behind Christopher Reburn' *smiles*

Five years later, and countless adventures along the way, that without them, a relationship never builds the proper strength and a secure & sturdy foundation to last a lifetime, I couldnt be happier and I wanted to share my happiness with all of you who have always looked out for me, supported me and befriended me, as Dannii and I continue this life's journey together in perfect harmony.

It brings me great pleasure to share with you a deeper glimpse into my sacred and personal life and journey. This is by far the most personal and meaningful blog that I've ever written, and I look forward to sharing more with you as time goes on.

Thank you for always sending positive energy my way, and I'm in gratitude for the love, support and friendship you all have shown me for years.

My New Year Blog

Well, here we are! Another New Year full of endless possibilities & new beginnings with a clear & clean slate to focus on areas in your sprituality you wish to strengthen and gain more insights on. I always enjoy the beginning of a New Year, as it allows me to look back and celebrate the previous year. Even during the more difficult periods of life, it's important to celebrate and remember your strengths, all that you are and all that you do to help make our world a more spiritual place.

2011 was the busiest year for me yet. In connecting with people for readings, courses, healings, missing persons and other appearances, I aided more than 25,000 people in 2011. This makes me feel very proud, and very happy to those of you who look to me for advice and insights. I always do my very best in all angles of my spirituality, whether it be showing someone insights into their life that they themselves couldnt see, to teaching someone about their gifts and then watching that person soar -- these are very special & defining moments in my life, and I worship these moments, and I THANK YOU for being a part of them!!

I expect 2012 to be just as busy if not busier, and that is just fine with me. I've always dedicated my life to my work, and my work ethics will always remain that way. Those of you who REALLY know me, know how serious I take my work and how honored and gracious I am when someone comes to me for a reading or to take one of my courses, or someone who asks for a healing.

Dannii and I had a nice holiday in New York with my family. The trip was a bit of a comedy of errors in a few ways and deeply sad in others, but we had each other throughout it, which made us even stronger. From the car breaking down and us being stranded in North Carolina for three days, to having to put the family pet (Sandy) down, us both having colds, this trip was met with some laughter and some sadness, but we got through it and returned home to see the New Year in. Although the trip was not picture perfect, it was a journey that helped bond us even closer together.

I'm very proud of the couple Dannii and I have become. The first time we met, we knew we'd be together forever. Last New Years, I shared with you, my faithful friends, that Dannii & I were in a relationship. Well, now I've got even better news than that! Dannii and I are engaged! While the engagement is not new news to my close friends and family -- all of whom have known about it for light years now -- I wanted to open up to more of you, who continue to give me strength, to let you in a little deeper into my world. I know so many of you will be so happy for us!!

I've got lots of projects up my sleeve for this year! That includes 2 new courses, my new Past Lives CD, and the ever-challenging book project, and a few things I cant talk about just yet, but you know I'll bring them to you and let you know about everything as soon as it unfolds.

I wish 2012 to be a year of Great Health, Prosperity & Spirituality in your world, in your heart, and through your eyes.

Have You Meditated Lately?

You've likely heard me say the 'M' word, better known as meditation, numerous times on Conversations with Christopher http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thepsychic) and the reason why I am such a meditation advocate is I know first hand how very important meditation has been for me throughout my entire life and most important during my endless spiritual journey and lifelong mission to reach and help others.

It really all begins with meditation. Once you are able to center yourself and align yourself properly with the divine energies around you and settle your thoughts and concentrate, you'll find yourself in a very peaceful meditational zone of spiritual oneness.

I remember one of the very first times I meditated as a child and was dumbstruck by the powerful results. Almost immediately, I could feel more positive energy reach within the very depths of my soul and I recall vividly how the meditations serenaded my Spirit and gave me so much additional energy and an overall state of spiritual well-being, and it still does the same thing today!

When I began utilizing meditation each day, if only for a few minutes, I noticed rather immediate results, and when I began meditating before doing readings, I noticed it helped take my connection to an entirely higher level and my accuracy rate increased substancially and it helped me to connect much stronger and I became more grounded than ever before. I was certainly amazed, to say the least, and I never knew such a simple routine could make one's spiritual journey even more brighter and powerful.

And how much does meditation cost? Not a darn penny. Well, at least not at the moment, but who knows if the government may put a 'spiritual tax' in motion at some point in future. *smiles*

So many of us live very busy lives and often do not have the 30-60 minutes a day to do meditation, but this is where the biggest meditation misconception comes from and why most people try and eventually give up on their meditations, and that misconception is that one must meditate for hours a day to achieve spiritual oneness. This is not true, friends. Simple meditations (even the 5-10 minute ones) are most helpful, and let's face it, who really has an extra hour these days? Especially when a full hour is not needed for proper and successful meditations.

Relax your mind and Spirit before going into a meditation, and try to ask your Guides to help you remove any useless energy that you don't need, this helps to wipe out alot of stress that may have been experienced earlier in the day, and gives you an even better chance of a successful meditation. This is what I call 'Meditate Before You Meditate', clearing and cleansing one's Spirit before going into a meditation helps strengthen your connection to the universe and The Other Side. It helps to remove the veil and can help open your spiritual portal as well.

Here is a favorite meditation exercise of mine that I'd like to share with you:

It's a relaxing exercise you can do either in meditation at home or in real time particularly if you have a sandy beach close by.

For meditating at home: In your meditative Sanctuary of the Mind see yourself sitting on the sand. Imagine you can feel the presence of the water, the blue sky with a few fluffy white clouds. Breathe in slowly and allow the aroma of the beach to fill your lungs. After several breaths, allow your fingers to feel the texture of the sand. Know that this sand has been on the Planet since time immemorial in various shapes.

When you feel comfortable start to build a sandcastle. Imagine you have a child’s small bucket and spade, and work with these. Create a building in whatever shape feels best for you. As you meditate you may well hear voices from your past and memories from another age. Allow yourself to progress with the building. It can be any shape that you desire. Once you have completed it, sit back and survey your project and review the memories that have come up.

Visiting a sandy beach: If you can visit a real sandy beach in real time do exactly the same thing. Spend some time breathing and relaxing. Then become conscious of the place, the beach, the water, the sun and the sky and the air. Next observe your feelings, how you are sitting or kneeling. Note any thoughts that may come up. When you feel comfortable, start building your sandcastle. Feel your fingers touching the sand. Work on the castle and allow it to develop. You may well feel foolish. Observe such feelings without judgment and they will fade away. You may well have someone come by and ask what you are doing. If you feel so inclined, ask them to join you. You may well find your activity triggers the creation of a sandcastle-building club. Discuss with each other how you feel. It can be quite a learning experience.

Meditation is available for all of us to use, and it's worthwhile to take part in it, especially if you are wanting to strengthen your spirituality, abilities and gifts, as well as enjoying a more positive spiritual journey where stress can be eliminated and removed simply by meditation. Meditation isnt for everyone, but it sure has been a livesaver for me! Meditation helps us not sweat the small stuff and gears our focus more towards our priorites!
